Obesity from the inside out.

I recently read a post from Dr. Bryan Davis where he posted this picture. He stated, "This image shows a 250-pound woman on the left and a 120-pound woman on the right. We can see weight gain from the outside, but it's rare to see weight gain from the inside. Look at the fat surrounding the organs on the left. Do you see the fat around her heart? Look at the compression of the internal organs. Look at the knee joints. Don't you think they ache more than they should? It's not about being skinny, it's about being healthy."

This post makes me think about how I felt when I was at my heaviest. 222 pounds to be exact. I remember back how hard the ACL surgery was, how hard the C6-C7 ACF surgery was and the hysterectomy. Those surgeries are hard on anyone, but being so overweight didn't help recovery go any easier. It is amazing to me how much better I feel now. I am still on my journey to optimal health, but what I have gained during the loss of these 61 pounds so far, has been the greatest gift I have ever given myself. The energy, the new view on my future and all that I will be able to do now that I feel so much better. I am sleeping better, eating better, making better choices and I even have been able to help others reach their own goals.
Take a good look at this picture. Do you know someone who could use some help? I would love to help them, just as others helped me. We are not getting younger, nor are we going to be able to get years back that was lost. But, we can have a brighter future, more fulfilled and be able to enjoy every day living our very best life.
